Elissa D. Miller is a partner at Greenspoon Marder. Elissa is a well-established bankruptcy lawyer and fiduciary who has served as a Chapter 7 Trustee in the Central District of California since 2003 and is also appointed in Chapter 11 cases. Ms. Miller has practiced law in Los Angeles since 1985 representing creditors, creditors committees and other Chapter 7 and 11 trustees. Her claim to fame is serving as the Chapter 7 Trustee of the infamous Girardi Keese law firm.In addition to her legal practice, among other things, Elissa is a founding member of CARE Los Angeles and sits on its executive board. She also provides pro bono services to clients through Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles for which she was honored as the Bankruptcy Pro Bono Attorney of the year in 2025 by the organization, and also is a long time member of the Executive Board of the Business Law Section of the California Lawyers Association.

Jeffrey is perennially named a Southern California “Super Lawyer” in the field of Bankruptcy & Creditor/Debtor Rights, an honor bestowed on only 5% of Southern California attorneys. He has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America for Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights / Insolvency and Reorganization Law and Litigation – Bankruptcy every year since 2018. Jeff is a graduate of Swarthmore College (with honors) and received his J.D. from UCLA, where he was a teaching assistant with the political science department. Jeffrey is one of the founding members of the CARE Los Angeles chapter, heads its Volunteer Committee and has given dozen of CARE presentations over the last several years.

Sharon Kopman is a Co-Vice President and founding member of CARE Los Angeles, bringing over 30 years of experience in private equity, corporate law, bankruptcy law, and mergers and acquisitions. She loves volunteering for CARE because she is passionate about teaching young people the financial literacy skills necessary to protect and empower their financial well-being throughout their lives. In addition to CARE, she currently sits on several for-profit and non-profit boards and serves as a Vice President at Oak Point Partners, a private investment firm focused on acquiring corporate remnant assets nationwide.

Robbin Itkin has a distinguished legal career spanning over 35 years representing all constituents in complex restructuring and bankruptcy matters both in and out of court. She now focuses her time as a court appointed fiduciary for numerous companies in Chapter 11 bankruptcy and as a fiduciary for private companies needing an independent decision-maker, and also serves asa seasoned mediator. She has been recognized as a valued member of the legal community,including being Chambers-ranked, a fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and the recipient of notable awards such as the Bankruptcy Lawyer of the Year Award, Top 50 Women Southern California Attorney Award, Transaction of the Year Award and the Legal Visionary award. Robbin wishes a program like CARE existed when she was a teenager. As a compassionate financial advisor helping individuals and companies facing financial challenges, Robbin is committed to helping young adults (and adults as needed) understand the importance of financial literacy in living a successful and fulfilling life.

Rhonda Richard is a proud native of Los Angeles, California. Her passion for financial literacy began at an early age while working in her grandfather’s store, where she learned the value of budgeting and saving. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from California State University at Dominguez Hills.

Rhonda enjoyed a distinguished 39-year career with the State of California, retiring as a Manager. Also, for many years she was a licensed Realtor, Life Insurance Agent, and Tax Preparer where she gained first-hand knowledge about money management behaviors. She began volunteering in the early 2000s with JET’s Kids and taught Operation Hope’s financial literacy curriculum to elementary school aged kids. Today, she continues to give back by serving on the Board of Directors for CARE Los Angeles and as a volunteer with the Junior Achievement Foundation.

Her lifelong commitment to financial education stems from a deep belief that young people should understand their relationship with money. Rhonda was inspired to join CARE Los Angeles because its mission—to educate, elevate, and empower through free financial literacy programs—aligns perfectly with her own values.

Amber Schaeffer is a global marketing executive with two decades of leadership experience in non-profit organizations. Amber’s market experience spans some of the largest media and software companies, including MGM and PeopleSoft. Amber currently leads business development for Caden Concepts, a global leader in marketing and branding solutions, and she previously co-founded a fundraising technology business. Her work with non-profit organizations includes board roles and development leadership at multiple private and public schools in Los Angeles. Amber grew up in Los Angeles, graduated from Pepperdine University, and completed her Master’s degree in Global Marketing and Advertising with Emerson University in Brussels, Belgium. She has also lived in England, Germany, New York, Boston, and San Francisco, where both of her children were born.

John is a recently retired Chief Financial Officer with 30 years of experience in financial management. After completing his MBA at Boston University, John moved to Los Angeles with his wife Terri and newborn son to work at Mattel as a financial analyst. Over time, he assumed increasing levels of financial management and leadership, ultimately holding the CFO position for three privately held companies. During his professional career, John developed a strong appreciation for the importance of planning and budgeting in running a successful business. He applies the principles of planning and budgeting to managing his own family’s finances and loves teaching others how to do the same. He joined CARE in 2024 after a budgeting conversation with his law school bound daughter who informed him that “no one teaches us this stuff”. John and Terri have three adult children, two goofy but lovable dogs and currently live in the South Bay.

He is an expert in the valuation of real estate and minority and partnership interests. Todd serves is an expert in real estate dissolution, sale and strategy situations for Fortune 100 companies, Trust companies, Fiduciaries, Court matters for Probate, Family Law, Bankruptcy and Receivership courts.

Todd has provided expert witness testimony in numerous state and federal courts regarding valuation of assets for clients
such as GE Capital, McDonald’s, Nissan Motors, Ford Motor and Primus Financial.
